No matter what, Nate Ament will always be known as one of the draft picks the Milwaukee Bucks used from the Giannis Antetokounmpo trade. No one is saying Ament should become Giannis, but how the forward landed in Milwaukee in the first place will stick with him throughout his NBA career. He should embrace it and use it to fuel his fire as he aims to make a name for himself.
Ament is a direct result of the Giannis trade
The Milwaukee Bucks acquired Ament with the 13th overall pick in this past draft, a selection they didn't have just days prior. Miami coughed u that up after acquiring Giannis Antetokounmpo, as well as an assortment of other picks over the next several years. Ament will always be remembered as being a part of the Giannis package, which could end up making it better or worse long-term.
Pieces like Tyler Herro and Jaime Jaquez Jr. are largely proven, while Kel'el Ware adds excitement to the fold, but Ament being relatively unknown makes things all the more interesting. It's one of the top reasons Milwaukee's trade return for their franchise icon truly cannot be judged for many years yet. How he looks in five or so years could be the deciding factor in the overall grading of the trade.
Ament has shades of Giannis (hear me out)
No, this is not to say that the two play the same or that Ament will someday be the same player that the Greek Freak has become. Instead, it's to focus on how both players came into the NBA as skinny, raw prospects who had potential but had plenty of room to grow before they could ever reach their dream NBA ceiling.
It all worked out well for Giannis, who has become one of the greatest players in NBA history and will end up in the Hall of Fame one day. Due to their success with finding Giannis, the Bucks have been on the hunt for their next gem for years, taking swings on players like AJ Johnson and Thon Maker. Now, they are trying to do the same with Ament. They are hoping this one turns out different.
If he works as relentlessly as Giannis did and earns a legitimate opportunity, Ament has the potential to be a force in this league for years to come. If he ever wants to reach Giannis' level, he has big shoes to fill. Again, no one is saying he will, but the sky is the limit for the youngster.
