MarJon Beauchamp never lived up to expectations in the NBA, but he isn't letting his hoop dreams die just yet. After bouncing around the league last season, the former Milwaukee Bucks wing is still hunting for a comeback, currently hoping for a call from a team stateside as he weighs offers from overseas clubs, per The Athletic's Joe Vardon.
Former Bucks wing is working to find his next home
Is there still a place in the NBA for MarJon Beauchamp? Absolutely. First off, he recently just turned 25 years old, so he's still very young. Second, in today's league, teams are always scrambling to find as many young, athletic, lengthy wings as they can. If he's healthy, he will always be in consideration for a 10-day or a G League deal. Yet, it may take time.
For the time being, going overseas might not be the worst idea. He should look to follow the blueprint of Lonnie Walker IV, who began last season overseas but had an opt-out clause in his deal. With it, the guard was able to return to the United States when the Philadelphia 76ers called. It's a great way for a player to keep getting game reps while also being ready for an NBA call.
If Beauchamp wants to bounce back and make it back to playing under the bright lights, he will have to be better than he was during his last few stops. During his two and a half years in Milwaukee, there was potential sprinkled throughout, but it never fully translated. Whether that was due to him or a lack of a legitimate role, it plagued the Milwaukee Bucks, who desperately needed a wing.
It clearly wasn't all on Milwaukee, as he had cups of coffee with the LA Clippers and New York Knicks last season and still failed to make a name for himself.
With all due respect, the best thing to come from Beauchamp's time in Milwaukee was the trade to acquire Kevin Porter Jr. for him. Porter has been a staple for the Bucks since being acquired, and he looks like a star in the making this season. The fact that the Bucks didn't have to give up any draft capital to get him is still a surefire miracle.
There's no telling where the wing goes from here, but some time aboard could be good for his game.
