In their quest for more youth, athleticism and impact players, the Milwaukee Bucks need to do some legitimate homework ahead of the 2024 NBA Draft.
Looking at the list of draft prospects the Bucks have gotten a closer look at via HoopsHype's tracker, there's a clear trend, and that's that the team is interested in forwards above all else. Seven of the eight players they have worked out are forwards. The lone guard is Mark Sears, who has already said he plans to return to college for one more year, taking him out of the equation.
The Bucks are keeping a close eye on forwards
Of the seven forwards mentioned, only two are ranked. Weber State's Dillon Jones is ranked 40th, while Trentyn Flowers of the Adelaide 36ers is 56th. Other players they have checked out thus far are Philip Alston, Amari Kelly, Josh Oduro, Mark Sears, Trey Townsend and Tyler Wahl. Four are power forwards, three are small forwards and Sears is a guard, as mentioned.
This list might not provide too much optimism, given that most of the players are not even ranked and wouldn't be worth the first or second round selection the team holds, but it shows that they are in the market for a forward. Perhaps they could get a closer look at one of the higher-ranked ones soon.
Scouting the current class, a few players who may be available when the Bucks are on the board in the first round are Bobi Klintman, Tyler Smith and Pacome Dadiet. Of the bunch, Smith might be the most intriguing prospect, standing at 6-foot-9, boasting a 7-foot wingspan and possessing a ton of athleticism that could electrify this Milwaukee roster.
In the second round, Harrison Ingram is a popular pick among Bucks fans, as he has potential to be a nice two-way contributor from the jump. Kevin McCullar Jr. checks off some of the same boxes, and a versatile chess piece like him could do this roster plenty of good. The same goes for Ryan Dunn, who has all of the tools to be an elite defender at the next level.
The Bucks will have plenty of options in a class loaded with forwards.
