Taurean Prince, the 30-year-old power forward from Baylor University, is going to be an important addition to this Milwaukee Bucks team for the upcoming 2024-2025 season.

His role should be to spell Giannis Antetokounmpo, Brook Lopez and Bobby Portis. But with those three guys ahead of him in a possible future rotation, Prince needs to find some positive minutes and make plays quickly to start the 2024-2025 season.

Prince comes over from the LA Lakers. However, it is the teams he played for before that gives fans clues to how he may play for Milwaukee.

Prince had a really good run with the Atlanta Hawks, who were coached by none other than former Milwaukee Bucks great Mike Budenholzer ( It'll be wild to see the reaction he gets when the Phoenix Suns play the Bucks at Fiserv Forum).

Watching film on Prince, he tends to play like a lanky big man who does a nice job passing the ball. He can create his own shot and should be a veteran player head coach Doc Rivers can rely on.

If he can give the Milwaukee Bucks solid minutes off the bench that would really help them do well in the grind of the NBA regular season. A Swiss Army knife, one of the good things about Prince is he seems to be able to adapt to many situations. Like Portis, Prince will be called up to give Milwaukee meaningful minutes off the bench.

What can fans look for: A fast start

For the Lakers last season, Prince came out and scored 18 points in the first game of the season. For the Timberwolves the year before in game one, Prince came out and hit three timely 3-pointers on his way to 11 points in 12 minutes of action.

He seems to have that pattern in his career, and that is something worth looking forward to!

Again, Prince plays with a very lanky frame and can do a really nice job cutting to the basket. Any basic film study of him shows that he's not much of a banger but can do some nice things in attacking the rim. He is very capable on the fast break and actually makes some neat layup shots. In watching some film from Prince's stint with the Minnesota Timberwolves, it was clear he seemed to have a run where he made a lot of reverse layups.

Prince is big. He does play with a large height advantage.

He also does a nice job of being able to create a shot, especially when the shot clock is ticking down.

Something that should worry fans is that Prince has not played a full season since the 2017-2018 campaign. Of course with Milwaukee, we will see. Last season, Prince was able to play quite a bit (78 games).

What clues rest in the career numbers

A line of 10/4/2 is not a shabby career number in 24 minutes of play. Prince is an average rebounder, and it is good to see he gets a few assists every time he plays.

What may surprise fans is Taurean Prince’s ability to hit close to two threes every game. He is an excellent 3-point shooter from the corners.

Prince is a career 81 percent free throw shooter. While that is certainly not perfect, it is better than the league average of 76.6 percent.

If Taurean Prince can stay healthy, Milwaukee Bucks fans should look forward to solid play and a fast start to the 2024-2025 season, which will help the team.
