Biggest X-factor for each Milwaukee Bucks player in 2024-25

Bobby Portis - Rebounding
Many people might put defense here. While it would be great if Portis took strides defensively, it feels unlikely at this point in his career. Instead, the Milwaukee Bucks need Portis to assert himself on the glass more, as his rebounds per game dropped quite a bit last season. When Portis is attacking and hauling in boards, his impact becomes that much more valuable for the Bucks.
Gary Trent Jr. - Defense
Gary Trent Jr. is one of the best signings of the entire offseason across the NBA. He will be a valuable member of the starting lineup, and his importance will be measured by how he performs defensively. If the wing embraces the role of taking on some of the tougher assignments to alleviate pressure off of Damian Lillard and succeeds in his matchups, it could take this Milwaukee team to a new level.
Brook Lopez - Rebounding
During his time in Milwaukee, Brook Lopez hasn't been much of a rebounder. Even without Giannis, he tallied just 4.3 per game in last year's playoffs, which is unacceptable as a 7-footer. With or without the Greek Freak next to him, Lopez being more assertive on the glass would help the Bucks mightily, especially by creating extra opportunities on the offensive end.
