The Bucks should look to make this arrangement permanent.

Shortly after the conclusion of Media Day, the Milwaukee Bucks hopped on a flight to California to begin training camp.

It was revealed that Rajon Rondo would be in attendance but not as a player. The four-time All-Star and two-time NBA Champion, who retired earlier this year, would serve as a guest coach, providing his knowledge of the game. The 16-year veteran has ties to Bucks head coach Doc Rivers, as they were together as coach-player on those formidable Boston Celtics teams back in the day.

The Bucks should swoop Rajon Rondo up permanently

While he's likely enjoying retirement at the moment, Rondo would make for a great full-time addition to this coaching staff. Everyone who has ever known him talks about him being one of the smartest players to pick up a basketball, as his IQ for the game is off the charts. Having an experienced former player on the staff would be a welcoming thing for Doc Rivers.

Rondo's former teammate LeBron James spoke previously about his confusion on why the guard was not coaching at a high level on the Mind The Game podcast with JJ Redick. James talked about how well Rondo would do leading a team but that he's unsure if the guard wants to deal with "rich entitled guys" all the time. Perhaps a role as an assistant would not be as taxing for the recent retiree.

Even if this arrangement is only temporary, what an opportunity it is for Bucks rookie AJ Johnson. He was already learning from Damian Lillard and Delon Wright in the backcourt, but now, he has a chance to gather information from one of the smartest guards ever in Rondo. All three veterans are masters at what they do, and Johnson can pick the brains of each of them as he goes through his first camp.

Even if it's just temporary, it's welcoming to see Doc Rivers spice things up by bringing in a familiar in NBA lore face for training camp. This is a very different camp for the Milwaukee Bucks, who traveled to California in an attempt to build chemistry, as Rivers explained at Media Day. Let's hope it works as the Milwaukee Bucks aim to get back to the mountaintop.

It'll be interesting to see if Doc Rivers brings any other special guests to Bucks training camp.
