Bucks spice up training camp battle on the wing with latest surprise signing
By Dalton Sell
The Milwaukee Bucks started training camp earlier this week, but that has not stopped them from further beefing up their fascinating roster.
According to The Athletic's Eric Nehm, Milwaukee has added Terence Davis via an Exhibit-10 deal. With their standard roster currently full, Davis won't be sticking around with the Milwaukee Bucks for the upcoming regular season, but he does have an opportunity to join them for camp and stick with the organization in the G-League.
What Terence Davis brings to the Milwaukee Bucks
The Milwaukee Bucks have been eyeing Davis for quite some time now. In August, they reportedly worked him out as they wanted to see what he had in the tank. In January of this year, Davis suffered a season-ending injury while playing in the G-League, so it makes sense that the Bucks wanted to see what kind of shape he's in by extending an Exhibit-10 in his direction.
If Davis does indeed make it out to camp in California, he will make the battle of the wings all the more interesting. Young players like AJ Green, MarJon Beauchamp Andre Jackson Jr. and Chris Livingston are all looking to prove that they can help, while the veteran Pat Connaughton is aiming to prove he still has something left to give. Davis joins the mix looking to showcase why he belongs on a roster.
When he was healthy, there was a lot to like about Davis. At 6-foot-4 with a 6-foot-8.75 wingspan, the wing has eye-catching height and length. With career averages of eight points per game, while hitting 36.6 percent of his triples, the wing oftentimes provided an offensive spark when he played. He also flashed glimpses of potential on defense, utilizing that aforementioned height and length.
At 27 years old, Terence Davis is still fairly young and may have some good basketball left to play in his NBA career. If he joins the team in California, he has an opportunity to make a name for himself by outdueling several of the other Bucks wings looking to do the same.
Ultimately, even if he dazzles at camp, Davis will likely be invited to join the Wisconsin Herd, at least to start the season. If he plays well there and the Bucks free up a roster spot down the line, perhaps they could use it on Davis if they need a wing. Until then, he could get good reps in the G-League.
This signing is all about Davis looking to make a comeback to the NBA, and the Bucks are willing to hear him out.
