Detroit perspective on this trade with the Bucks

Pistons GM Troy Weaver loves three things: Value, adding cheap veteran contracts, and draft picks.

This trade with the Bucks would be a step in the right direction. Connaughton has been a favorite of Giannis Antetokounmpo's for the past five seasons, and despite his poor shooting season last year, Connaughton brings effort and intensity every night. Connaughton has shot the ball much better this year, as he's shooting 38 percent from three and 44 percent from the field.

The only way for Troy Weaver to turn the Pistons around is to stockpile veterans alongside franchise cornerstones Cade Cunningham and Jalen Duren. This trade for Connaughton would help do that.

The other side to this trade is the second-round draft picks. Weaver's draft-day decisions have been a mixed bag, as none of his second-round picks are on the roster. Not only that, but the Pistons have an issue drafting players, as they have nearly two decades of misses on NBA Draft prospects.

If I'm the DetroitPistons, I take Connaughton and the picks to continue to build through the draft and hopefully sign a couple of veteran players in free agency to help get this organization back to winning basketball games.
