Coming off a season split between the Washington Wizards and Miami Heat, Delon Wright signed a one-year deal with the Milwaukee Bucks earlier this offseason.

The guard will be a strong addition to this backcourt rotation, giving Milwaukee a defensive-minded piece who can play a key role. As he aims to help the Bucks rise back to championship status, let us highlight three individual goals Wright should aim to achieve that would assist the team overall.

No. 1 - Average two steals or better per game

With his main focus in Milwaukee being defense, Wright should strive to average two steals per game as a Buck. The most he has averaged in a season was 1.8 per contest with Washington in 2022-23, so it would be a new career-high. Only three players averaged two or more steals per game last season, so this is the clear-cut definition of a lofty goal for Delon Wright.

One of Wright's greatest attributes is his ability to generate steals consistently. Measuring 6-foot-5 with a 6-foot-7.5 wingspan, he's tall and lengthy, which makes it easy for him to disrupt passing lanes and rack up deflections in a hurry. Due to his height, length and active hands, Wright has averaged 1.2 steals per game across his nine-year playing career.

Since being drafted in the 2015 NBA Draft, Wright has picked up 620 steals, which is the 17th-most by a guard in that timeframe. Considering there are only four players ahead of him without an All-Star nod - and one of them is Defensive Player of the Year winner Marcus Smart - Wright finds himself in good company as a role player.

While it's a high mountain to climb, Delon Wright has all of the tools to get it done, especially with how much he should be on the floor with Milwaukee this coming season.
