No. 3 - Earn All-Defensive consideration
On paper, this one may sound a bit out there. Wright has proven to be a quality defender throughout his NBA career, but could he genuinely rise to the level of an All-Defensive-level player, especially at the age of 32? It's going to take a career-best year defensively from the Milwaukee Bucks guard, but it cannot be ruled out.
Wright's role could assist him in getting consideration. It won't be surprising if he finds himself paired with Gary Trent Jr. or Damian Lillard often, where he will be the primary defender tasked with taking pressure off of them. When the Bucks start switching defensively, he will also be a key piece. In short, he's going to be a vital part of the team's plans defensively, playing a big role in the process.
Playing for one of the NBA's premier contenders should also help boost his stock, as there will be a good amount of spotlight on him throughout the season. Former Bucks guard Eric Bledsoe earning both of his All-Defensive nods in Milwaukee but none elsewhere was not too surprising, as he had more eyes on him there - Bledsoe was also a great regular season defender, no doubt.
Sticking with Eric Bledsoe, the presence of other top-tier defenders, such as Giannis Antetokounmpo and Brook Lopez, elevated his output defensively, making him look better. Wright will find himself in a similar position, as those two towering giants will offer him assistance defensively.
There's no doubt that it's a longshot, but Delon Wright should look to be in the conversation for an All-Defensive nod this coming season.
