Gary Trent Jr.
When he shares the court with Damian Lillard, Gary Trent Jr. - who is likely to be Milwaukee's starting shooting guard - will typically be tasked with taking the more difficult assignments in the backcourt defensively. While he's a fine defender, that side of things has never been Trent's strongest suit; he's much more of an offensive threat due to his strong shooting from beyond the perimeter.
Just like with Lillard, sharing the floor with Wright will free Trent Jr. up on the defensive side of things, making these two an intriguing pairing. Alongside Wright, Trent can defer the most difficult matchup in the backcourt to Wright and conserve his energy for the offensive end. The Bucks need players to score the ball when Lillard sits, and this particular duo could help make that a reality.
On defense, these two should also force plenty of opportunities off turnovers. With Trent and Wright both averaging 1.2 steals per game for their respective careers, they've always racked up deflections in a hurry due to their length and active hands. The activity they both bring to the table on that side of the court should help them play well off one another.
Trent won't be off the hook entirely on defense, but being paired up with a 6-foot-5 perimeter ace will certainly make things easier for him individually.
