4. Cam Spencer
The 24-year-old is a lights-out shooter capable of spacing the floor immediately. He shot 41.7 percent from 3-point range during his five college seasons and hit 44.0 percent in his senior season at UConn. Spencer can do it off the move or the catch and must be accounted for.
The 6’3 guard continued that in Vegas. He was limited to two games because of an ankle injury but was impressive when on the floor. Spencer made 68.8 percent of his 16 field goal attempts and was four of seven from long range for 26 points in just over 50 total minutes.
He has shown some playmaking and defensive flashes. Spencer averaged 3.6 assists and 1.5 steals last season. He got four steals in Vegas but is undersized. The 24-year-old is a secondary creator and far from a lockdown defender, but finding someone capable of spacing the floor and creating turnovers is not easy. Spencer should translate those skills to the NBA.
The Milwaukee Bucks went for upside in the draft, but there were multiple players ready for rotation minutes immediately. Cam Spencer’s age and defense caused him to slip to 53rd overall, but the Bucks need shooters around their stars. There is likely some regret after watching him sink everything in his limited summer league action.
