Another day, another new depth chart update for the Milwaukee Bucks.
In what has been an incredibly busy offseason for general manager Jon Horst, the Bucks have made a handful of moves through free agency and the draft, patching several roster holes in the process. Most recently, they added two youngsters, James Akinjo and Liam Robbins, via Exhibit 10 contracts, meaning they will likely only join the Milwaukee Bucks for training camp and the preseason.
That said, let's break down the team's updated depth chart as it currently stands with the NBA season less than two months away from officially tipping off.
Analyzing the Bucks' 20-man roster
Point guard - Damian Lillard, Delon Wright, AJ Johnson, Ryan Rollins (Two-way), James Akinjo (Exhibit 10)
Shooting guard - Gary Trent Jr., Pat Connaughton, AJ Green, Andre Jackson Jr., Stanley Umude (Two-way)
Small forward - Khris Middleton, Taurean Prince, MarJon Beauchamp, Chris Livingston
Power forward - Giannis Antetokounmpo, Tyler Smith
Center - Brook Lopez, Bobby Portis, Anzejs Pasecniks (Two-way), Liam Robbins (Exhibit 10)
Both newcomers find themselves in good spots. Akinjo, a Wisconsin Herd member, has a chance to learn from an offensive-minded superstar in Damian Lillard and a defensive stalwart in Delon Wright alongside other young players. Robbins gets to study notable bigs in Brook Lopez and Bobby Portis, two very different but impactful frontcourt rotation players.
Once preseason concludes, both players will head to Oshkosh to suit up for Milwaukee's G-League squad, in all likelihood. As they look to make a name for themselves at that level, the experience of working alongside these proven veterans throughout training camp and the preseason should be a useful tool to help them grow.
The big thing that stands out on the depth chart is versatility. While everyone is listed at their primary positions, several players can suit up at multiple positions, such as Delon Wright at both guard spots, Taurean Prince at either forward spot and Giannis Antetokounmpo being able to play power forward and center. Having that flexibility will be a huge boost that coach Doc Rivers didn't have last season.
