Ranking former Milwaukee Bucks who could hurt the team the most next season
By Dalton Sell
After an offseason roster renovation, the Milwaukee Bucks find themselves in a great position to contend for an NBA title next season.
Of course, getting back to the mountaintop of NBA glory will not be without its challenges. In addition to staying healthy, which has been Milwaukee's prominent unavoidable obstacle over the past several seasons, there is so much parity in this talent-filled league right now. There are several former Bucks on new teams who are playing a part in that parity.
With that said, let's rank three former Milwaukee Bucks who could hurt the current team next season.
3. Grayson Allen, Phoenix Suns
Things just never clicked between Grayson Allen and the Milwaukee Bucks, largely due to the guard's shortcomings in the NBA Playoffs. It felt inevitable that he would be traded at some point, which came to fruition in Milwaukee's blockbuster three-team deal for Damian Lillard, where Allen was shipped to the Phoenix Suns last NBA offseason.
With Phoenix, Allen had his best year as a pro, averaging 13.5 points while shooting an otherworldly 46.1 percent from deep. Alongside the trio of Devin Booker, Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal, he had a good look from three just about every trip down the floor, which fueled his success as one of the top shooters in the entire NBA.
Allen's shooting could pose problems for the Bucks in a matchup due to the team having to focus so much on the three aforementioned stars. The shooting guard could get hot and have a game where he sinks seven 3-pointers like he did when the Bucks took on the Memphis Grizzlies in 2021. He's a player who needs to be accounted for on the perimeter.
Allen comes in at third because unless these two teams meet in the NBA Finals again, which would be an interesting matchup, the Bucks will only see him twice this coming season, given the difference in conferences. He could certainly do a good bit of damage in those games, but not as much as the two names ranked above him.
