Ryan Rollins should be lumped into Bucks' Giannis Antetokounmpo summer quest

If and when the Milwaukee Bucks trade Giannis Antetokounmpo, nobody should be untouchable - including Ryan Rollins.

As the Milwaukee Bucks consider potential Giannis Antetokounmpo trades this summer, they should also explore the trade market for Ryan Rollins. It seems a bit counterintuitive – to trade one of the team’s better young pieces – but if the Bucks are entering a new era, they might as well try to sell high on Rollins now.

Who knows how Rollins will look a year from now? Will he take a step back next year with a worse team around him? How much would teams be willing to give up for him this summer? Milwaukee doesn’t have to trade him. But if they are going to trade Antetokounmpo, nobody on the roster should be untouchable this offseason.

That includes Rollins.

Bucks should consider Ryan Rollins trade

Rollins enjoyed a breakout season with the Bucks this past season. In fact, he was one of the most surprising pieces on a team that was otherwise very disappointing in the grand scheme of things.

His play at the point guard position gave the Bucks fleeting glimpses of hope throughout the course of the year, though Antetokounmpo’s health was ultimately the deciding factor on the team’s overall competitiveness.

In 74 appearances – 67 starts and 32.1 minutes per contest – Rollins averaged 17.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, 5.6 assists, and 1.5 steals while shooting 47.2% from the floor and 40.6% from deep range on 6.1 three-point attempts per contest.

Those are great numbers. And Rollins is on a great contract. He’ll only make $4 million next year before likely declining his $4 million player option for the 2027-28 campaign.

However, Rollins is about to turn 24 years old. He’s young, but he’s not a rookie by any means. It’s not like he’s the type of player who could be a pillar of Milwaukee’s organization for 10 years.

Nobody should be untradable this summer. And with how great Rollins was last season, and considering how much money he makes, teams could be very interested in adding him to the mix.

If the Bucks could get a quality return for Rollins, there’s no reason he should be off the table in trade talks. If they are trading Antetokounmpo, they should be willing to completely shake things up.

In what could be a summer of deals for the Bucks, nobody should be safe from trade talks. That includes Rollins, even though he was awesome last season.

If Milwaukee can get value back in a trade, they should make it.
