The Milwaukee Bucks are always looking to make trades to further improve the roster, and they now have more assets to do so. Per NBA insider Marc Stein and Spotrac's Keith Smith, Chris Livingston, Taurean Prince, Kevin Porter Jr., and Gary Trent Jr. have all waived their veto rights on trades for the upcoming 2025-26 season, making them eligible to be traded without their consent.
Bucks have more trade chips in the form of four players
While the Bucks can now trade all four players at some point this coming season, it would be quite the turn of events if they moved a couple. Kevin Porter Jr. and Gary Trent Jr. feel like they will be the new starting backcourt, and both are on team-friendly deals. Prince is one of two true small forwards the Bucks have, while Livingston is the other one. Bringing all four back this summer, they are valued by the Milwaukee Bucks front office.
There's also the financial angle. Porter has the highest salary of the bunch at $5.1 million next season, so trading any of these players won't net Milwaukee anything significant alone. They could always aim to package them together or with other rostered players, such as Kyle Kuzma, to land a much bigger fish, but it all depends on exactly who is available.
At the time of this writing, if any of the four are on the trade block in the near future, Chris Livingston feels like the obvious candidate. While there's a chance the other three could be starters, Livingston hasn't played significant minutes in his career and is currently looking like he'll be a depth piece once again. Having him as a throw-in could be on the table down the line.
Of course, things can always change once we see these players in action and how well they mesh with the new version of what the team is building. While the Milwaukee Bucks always have their ears open to any potential trade talks, it feels more and more likely that they are content with the new roster they have built and will head into the upcoming season as constructed or with a minor tweak after resolving the ongoing Andre Jackson Jr. situation.
Any major movement may have to wait until the NBA Trade Deadline, but it is nice to know that the Milwaukee Bucks have some added flexibility in their back pocket if needed.
