What The Experts Say:

"While none of Holmes’ individual athletic tools leap off the page, he is a well-rounded athlete with a nice combination of quickness and strength that should help him compete against NBA players. He moves well in the open court and is tough enough to throw his weight around on the interior. – Jonathan Givony, DraftExpress"

What The Player Says:

"The type of player I try to model my game after is someone like Draymond Green. A guy who does a little bit of everything – he can play the three, he can play the four, he can lead the fast break, make plays, be the hard-nose guy. Apart from being a scorer, rebounder type of player, one thing I can do really well is pass and find open shots. – Jonathan Holmes"

What BTBP Says:

The Warriors can do whatever they want really. They’re the NBA champions. They should also be able to retain their core for at least another year without any major salary jumps, and as a result their future is blindingly bright.

With news emerging yesterday that they are going to oblige David Lee by helping him to find a new team, the question has to be will the Warriors look to replace him with a power forward via the draft?

If they do, they could do a lot worse than taking Jonathan Holmes of Texas, a tweener four who can stretch the floor and rebound.

Many other teams might be put off by a power forward prospect who only measures in at 6’8″, but then again the Warriors just won a championship with 6’7″ Draymond Green playing long spells at center.

Jeff Goodman of ESPN feels that Holmes could be a player that rewards the Warriors for their faith in him, and he could be right (didn’t that happen with Green and Festus Ezeli?):

"The Warriors don’t need much, so GM Bob Myers can just go with whomever he thinks has a chance to stick on a deep and loaded team. Holmes is a guy who can be a stretch 4 and is worth the roll of the dice with the final pick of the round."
