The Milwaukee Bucks returned from the All-Star break with a heartbreaking defeat to the Charlotte Hornets.
The Milwaukee Bucks 98-95 loss to the Charlotte Hornets is a microcosm of the Bucks lost season.
We saw flashes of excellence with Jabari Parker tying a career-high 23 points, and Giannis Antetokounmpo deliver a dunk that won’t be forgotten anytime soon.
But we also saw symptoms of a young team not ready to win consistently.
Following Giannis’ dream-factory dunk in the third the Bucks had an 11 point lead and every opportunity to put the Hornets away then and there.

But they let the visitors hang around, taking just an eight point lead into the final frame.
It took the Hornets less than six minutes to completely erase the Bucks lead.
Whatever flicker of playoff hope the Bucks had heading into the All-Star break is likely dead.
But that’s not really the issue.
The issue is that until this young, talented team learns to put wins away we will continue seeing winnable games slip through the Bucks collective fingertips.
At least we’re certain that there is something growing here. What that is and where it will take the franchise remains to be seen.
