Who Is Dion Waiters?

There are people who don’t know who Dion Waiters is? This iconic 6’4″ shooting guard had a strong postseason run with the Oklahoma City Thunder, who very nearly made the NBA Finals.

Waiters is a good basketball player who’s biggest knock is him thinking he’s a great basketball player. Many people have claimed to be the last one supporting him over the course of his career–Zach Lowe has been on Waiters Island for a long time now.

That attitude seems to be diminishing in him though–Waiters recorded record lows in field goal attempts per game and usage rate last season despite seeing the exact same amount of minutes per game as last season.

More from Bucks News

It seemed likely that the Thunder would re-sign Waiters this summer and bring him back as part of their next deep postseason run. That was before they dealt Serge Ibaka for Domantas Sabonis, Ersan Ilyasova and Victor Oladipo.

Oladipo now looks to dominate Oklahoma City’s minutes at shooting guard. With Waiters needing an expensive new contract, the Thunder likely can’t/won’t pay him in this NBA free agency period.

That means somebody else will. Should the Milwaukee Bucks try to court Dion? To figure that out we’ll look at his strengths, weaknesses, potential salary and fit with the Bucks.
