Without their star player Giannis Antetokounmpo, the Milwaukee Bucks lost a close one to the Washington Wizards yesterday afternoon. With that, we break down what stood out the most in the loss.

In their matinee matchup yesterday, the Milwaukee Bucks were handed their second-straight loss, this time losing to the Washington Wizards 107-101.

Before the game even tipped off, the Bucks were dealt a significant blow as it was announced Giannis Antetokounmpo would miss the game due to an illness.

The Bucks, however, wouldn’t feel his absence early on as they regularly capitalized on the Wizards’ multiple turnovers and hit from deep, which led to them taking control of the game in the opening period.

While their three-point shooting cooled off in the second quarter, the Bucks continued to stay hot from the field and led by eight going into halftime.  Unfortunately, that wouldn’t last going into the second half.

The Wizards stormed back coming out of halftime, taking control of the lead at the 6:39 mark of the third. The Bucks struggled to slow them down or even match the Wizards’ attack, which led to them being outscored 33-21 in the the third quarter.

From there, the Bucks played catch up, trying to diminish the lead, which the Wizards would keep at arm’s length for the majority of the fourth. Although they’d get to within three points in the waning seconds of the game, costly mistakes prevented the Bucks from making things more interesting and ultimately ensured them the loss.

For now, it’s time to take a closer look at what worked and what didn’t in the loss for the Bucks.
