NBA All-Star: Giannis Antetokounmpo Fifth Among Vote-Getters

There are just days before All-Star voting ends, and right now Giannis Antetokounmpo is fifth among all NBA players in fan voting.

Just like last week, only LeBron James has gotten more votes among frontcourt players in the Eastern Conference than Giannis Antetokounmpo. Giannis has nearly one million votes–LeBron is the only player to hit that mark.

The other players to get more votes than Giannis are Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry and Kyrie Irving. Giannis has over 963 million votes so far, an incredible number that speaks to Milwaukee’s effort. Less than 9000 votes separate Giannis from Irving for fourth place, but truthfully it doesn’t matter.

The Eastern frontcourt is where Giannis is competing, and he’s got a massive lead over Kevin Love. He’s now more than doubled up Love, who still holds a slight lead over Joel Embiid. The players and media vote matters too, although continuing to vote for the Greek Freak is still necessary for Bucks fans to see their star start in New Orleans.

Jabari Parker is getting plenty of votes too, although he would need the coaches to select him as a reserve to make the All-Star team. He’s ninth among frontcourt players in the East with 120,000 votes.

If Giannis or Jabari (or both!) make it, they would be Milwaukee’s first All-Stars since Michael Redd made the 2004 All-Star Game. Giannis seems like a lock at this point, but it’s still vital to continue voting!

Changes to the All-Star voting mean that media and players both get a 25 percent say in the starting five, with fan vote making up the other 50 percent. Fans can vote in several ways.

One of the most common is through Twitter. Tweeting a player’s full name plus the hashtag #NBAVote casts a vote for that player. So tweet out Giannis Antetokounmpo #NBAVote or Jabari Parker #NBAVote to help that way! Keep in mind you can only vote for one player per tweet. Simple retweet the following two tweets to vote for both Jabari and Giannis!

You can also vote on FaceBook with the same method/hashtag, or vote by Googling All-Star Game Voting or via NBA.com or the NBA App. No matter how you do it, make sure to get out and vote Giannis early and often!
