Milwaukee Bucks Reportedly Signing Terrence Jones For Rest Of Season
By Adam McGee
The Milwaukee Bucks are reportedly signing free agent Terrence Jones to a contract until the end of the season according to Shams Charania of The Vertical.
In an unexpected move, but one that’s certainly justifiable considering the team’s injury problems of late, the Milwaukee Bucks are reportedly signing free agent forward Terrence Jones until the end of the season.
The 25-year-old was in the middle of a stellar campaign with the New Orleans Pelicans, but was waived upon the arrival of DeMarcus Cousins via trade from Sacramento.
Pelicans coach Alvin Gentry explained that Jones was waived out of respect for the changing situation at his position in New Orleans, and how it looked set to negatively impact his minutes in what was already set to be a contract year.

"“We released him because, obviously if you look at the big [man] situation now, there was not going to be a whole lot of minutes, I think, for him. He wants to play. Obviously he’s a guy in a contract year. We just felt it’s best to let him go.”"
Now, Jones will again have a chance to showcase his abilities and his worth heading into the open market, as signing in Milwaukee should give him the chance to plug in the gap in the rotation left by the long-term knee injury suffered by Jabari Parker, and the hopefully short-term knee injury sustained by Michael Beasley.
The news was first reported on Twitter by Shams Charania of The Vertical.
Jones is an intriguing fit for the Bucks, although with a contract that runs only until the end of the season, the chances of Milwaukee reaping the rewards of his spell with the team in any meaningful way may be slim.
If Jones can excel in the coming months, he’ll become yet another intriguing role player with Milwaukee ties scheduled to hit the open market, leaving tough and potentially unaffordable decisions on the horizon for the Bucks.
Although recent results have significantly dented the team’s post-season hopes, Milwaukee’s decision to pick up a proven contributor of Jones’ worth on a short-term flier further affirms the franchise’s previously stated goal of reaching the playoffs.
Judging by recent results and performances, for as much as the addition of Jones may help to bolster the Bucks’ rotation, he’s not going to be able to single-handedly steer the team back on course. If Jones can be one important piece in helping the whole unit to rediscover its form of earlier in the season, that in itself would be a welcome change.

At the time of writing, there has been no confirmation as to who the Bucks will waive to create an open roster spot. The most logical option would be Axel Toupane who has only recently signed a 10-day contract.
