Conclusion

On the whole, I think it is fair to say that the Raptors hold the advantage when it comes to bench play. Although the Bucks have lots of guys who can show up and be difference makers on any given night, the consistency of the Raptors is hard to beat.

Toronto goes as deep as anyone in the entire league and everybody can contribute in different ways, either with scoring, defense, playmaking, or any combination of the above. P.J. Tucker will prove to be the biggest difference maker in this series as he will likely spend a fair amount of time covering either Giannis Antetokounmpo or Khris Middleton.

As for the Bucks, they will have to count on the steady contributions of Greg Monroe, but they will also need more to win this series. There are several backup guys from Milwaukee who can spray the three-point shot, and at least a couple of them need to catch fire at some point in this series.

The most notable bench matchup to me will be that of Cory Joseph against Matthew Dellavedova. Joseph has had the better statistical season this year, but you never know what the Outback Jesus is cooking up on the barbie.

Even with how good the stars will be in this series, sometimes it’s the role players like these that make the difference between winning and losing.
