NBA Free Agency 2017 Player Profile: Nick Young

Fit With Bucks
Nick Young is not the kind of player the Milwaukee Bucks should be looking to add via NBA free agency. Having more shooters can be useful, but defense is half of the game too, and Swaggy isn’t adding anything to Milwaukee on that end.

For the Bucks offense to improve, ball movement should probably increase. Sometimes Milwaukee is able to whip the ball around the perimeter and find open threes for guys like Delly and Snell. Those times would happen less often with Swaggy P on the floor.
It can be tempting to want to add a player who shot 40 percent from deep on as many attempts as Young took last season. That temptation needs to be taken with a grain of salt, or maybe more than one.
It’s easier to put up bulk stats on a bad team. The Lakers were awful last season. Additionally, without a past that indicates he’s a knock-down shooter, it’s hard to trust that Nick Young would maintain that level of play for the duration of a contract. Plus, he has a bit of history with Milwaukee after getting into a kerfuffle with Greg Monroe and company this past season.

Expecting the unexpected is a smart idea when it comes to the Milwaukee Bucks, but hopefully the team knows well enough to avoid Swaggy P in free agency this summer.
