The Wisconsin Herd will get their inaugural G League season underway in November, and with the release of the schedule they can now start to look ahead.
Only one day on from the G League expansion draft that put some shape on how the Wisconsin Herd could start their first season in existence, the league’s schedule was released putting the start line in focus.
It was already known that the Herd wouldn’t open at home to allow themselves as much time as possible to get construction completed and the finishing touches applied to their new arena, but the truth is the fans in Oshkosh won’t have to wait too long to meet their team.
The Herd’s very first game in the G League will come in the State Farm Arena in Hidalgo, Texas, when they square off with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers on Monday, November 6.

Wisconsin will then play their next three games on the road, before returning home to Oshkosh to open up their new arena against the local rival Windy City Bulls on Friday, November 17.
For those who are unfamiliar with the workings of the league, the Herd will play a total of 50 games throughout the course of the G League season.
According to the release on the Herd’s website, that will include 24 games each on the home and the road, as well as two at neutral venues in Missisauga, Ontario as a part of the annual G League Showcase.
Other important notes from that press release looking ahead to the opening season of Herd basketball in Oshkosh include that, with the exception of a single matinee game, all home games will start at 7pm Central, and much of the team’s schedule will be shaped around the weekend with 16 home games on either Friday or Saturday.
The team also highlighted some of the lengthier home and road trips throughout the season:
"“The Wisconsin Herd’s inaugural season schedule tips off with one of the team’s two season-long, four-game, road trip (Nov. 6-11 and Dec. 23-30) and features two season-long, three-game, homestands in December (Dec. 6-9 and Dec. 15-20) and one, three-game, homestand before and after the All-Star Break (Feb. 9-21).”"
