After a bounce-back year in his second season with the Milwaukee Bucks, Greg Monroe looks for continued success in the final year of his contract.

Greg Monroe chose the Milwaukee Bucks over the Los Angeles Lakers and New York Knicks, and after signing a three-year maximum contract worth approximately $50 million dollars, expectations were sky-high.

Less than one year later he was labeled a disappointment and very publicly placed on the trade block. Then, a year after that he was a legitimate Sixth Man of the Year candidate.

This year, Monroe looks to end the roller coaster cycle of his Bucks career to date. Expectations are back, and if the Bucks want to maintain last year’s success, particularly in the latter half of the season, Monroe will need to play well.

More from Bucks News

Last season, Monroe found his niche as the team’s Sixth Man and the leader of Jason Kidd‘s bench units. He provided low-post scoring, rebounding, and remarkable passing from the center position.

However, the biggest difference in Monroe’s game in his first and second seasons with the Bucks was his improved play on the defensive end of the court. Borderline unplayable in his first season with the Bucks, last year Monroe showed improved hustle and awareness, and managed to become a passable, if unspectacular, defender.

Monroe has more motivation than ever to play well this season. He is in a contract year and will be entering a saturated market this off-season. He will need to have a career year if he wants to continue making anything close to what he is making this season.

Will Monroe regress back to his 2015-2016 self? Will he improve on his bounce-back season from a year ago? Lets take a closer look at the different possibilities for the Bucks’ sixth man.
