Milwaukee Bucks: D.J. Wilson 2017-18 season preview
After being selected with the 17th overall pick in this year’s draft by the Milwaukee Bucks, D.J. Wilson is looking to get his NBA career off on the right foot this season.
Over the last few years, the Milwaukee Bucks certainly have a kind of a calling card for the type of players they target through the draft, specifically in the case of their first round selections.
Prizing length, athleticism and plenty of upside, the Bucks have an abundance of players who possess those traits, the effects of which we’re still only starting to see come to fruition as a whole.
The most recent example of this is D.J. Wilson, who the Bucks took with the 17th overall pick in this year’s draft. The selection of Wilson came as somewhat of a surprise, considering he had been regularly thought of as a late first/early second round pick heading into draft night.

After all, Wilson had only one year of productivity to hang his hat on during his time at the University of Michigan last season. With that said, Wilson did his best to make an impression on NBA scouts and front offices, especially down the stretch in the team’s season as well as in the NCAA tournament.
Now by coming to Milwaukee and making the jump to the NBA, Wilson is looking to carry over that kind of production and momentum into his rookie season.
With a dearth of proven forwards behind the face of the franchise Giannis Antetokounmpo (at least heading into the year), Wilson will be looked on to make a contribution in some capacity for a Bucks team that is looking to take that next step after a bounce back season last year.
But whether Wilson will deliver a consistent, positive contribution for the majority of the season for the Bucks is another question entirely.
