Shorthanded and without star Giannis Antetokounmpo, the Milwaukee Bucks escaped with a hard fought, but sloppy overtime victory over the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday night to earn their ninth win of the season.

It wasn’t pretty throughout the night, but the Milwaukee Bucks came away with a hard fought, yet shoddy win over the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday night, winning 113-107 in overtime.

Entering the game shorthanded as well as without their star Giannis Antetokounmpo, expectations were low heading into the game with the new-look starting lineup head coach Jason Kidd decided to trot out for the opening jump.

Both teams quickly got into the swing of things to start the contest, but it was the Bucks who ended up pulling away by the end of the first as they led 33-23, thanks to Khris Middleton catching fire to start the game (he had 13 after one quarter).

More from Bucks News

The Bucks only kept their foot down on the proverbial gas pedal in the second quarter as they turned away any run from the Suns by pouring on more offense to lead 54-44 heading into halftime.

It was in the third where the game started to change (and not for the better for Bucks fans and their collective sanity).

Leading by as much as 15, the Bucks started to get pulled apart defensively with the Suns improving their effectiveness shooting the ball.

After the Suns were able to briefly hold the lead, the Bucks were able to conjure up a 15-5 run in the closing four minutes of the third to lead 84-75. However, the Suns stormed back to start the fourth to not only tie up the game but possess their first substantial lead since the beginning of the game.

Down and teetering on the edge of losing a couple of the few players they had available for the night to foul trouble, the Bucks were able to withstand the Suns’ pressure to find their groove offensively in the final few minutes of regulation.

But as it looked like the Bucks were able to secure the win, thanks to a key three from Middleton and a number of free throws from Eric Bledsoe, Devin Booker sank a 28-foot heave to tie up the game as the final buzzer sounded to send it to overtime.

Just when it looked like we couldn’t get any lower, the game descended into pure chaos as both teams committed more turnovers (six combined) than scored shots from the field (three combined). In the end, it was the Bucks who ended up on top to bring home a big win, on many fronts.

So without further ado, let’s take a deeper dive into last night’s game for the Bucks.
