The Wisconsin Herd lost their first game in their new home in surprising fashion, getting blown out by the struggling Delaware 87ers.

Following the high of their win against the Iowa Wolves on opening night for the Menominee Nation Arena last Friday, the Wisconsin Herd were unable to deliver another win for their Oshkosh fans on Wednesday night.

As the Eastern Conference’s last placed Delaware 87ers made the trip to Wisconsin, expectations were high for another win, but instead the Herd could only manage a bitter disappointment.

Giving up a season-high 135 points to the 87ers, the Herd fell to a lackluster 23-point loss.

Jordan Brady’s team received good contributions from deep in their bench, as well as a predictably strong performance from Xavier Munford, but didn’t get quite as much as they would have hoped for from James Young and Cliff Alexander.

Although the 87ers had already started to seize control, the game effectively got away from the Herd when Cliff Alexander was ejected midway through the third quarter with his team down by 11.

Without Alexander and with Michael Dunigan inactive, the Herd could do nothing to stop the 87ers’ endless procession toward the rim and frequent trips to the free throw line.

Without further ado, let’s take a closer look at the good and bad to come from Wednesday’s loss.
