Milwaukee Bucks: Takeaways from 110-103 win over Washington Wizards

The Milwaukee Bucks toughed out a big victory Saturday night over fellow Eastern Conference foe, the Washington Wizards, winning 110-103.

Following a brutal loss the previous night, the Milwaukee Bucks bounced back in a big way on Saturday night by edging out the Washington Wizards and winning 110-103.

The Bucks started off the night slow, which was only made worse by the Wizards’ hot shooting from the field in the game’s opening few minutes.

Already in the hole and having changed their starting five coming into the game, the Bucks gradually started to find their footing as the first quarter moved along as they trailed the Wizards 32-24 after the first 12 minutes.

After stringing together a run to close the gap, the Bucks hit another lull midway through the second period as the Wizards reawakened after experiencing a lull of their own.

However, the Bucks closed out the second strong by going on a 14-4 run in the frame’s final few minutes.

With it being a vastly different game entering the third, we got a more tightly contested contest as both teams traded buckets upon buckets all throughout the quarter.

Finally, it was in the fourth quarter when the Bucks truly broke through as they grabbed their first meaningful, albeit minuscule, lead in the game at the 8:10 mark of the period. But the Wizards battled back and, in part due to Giannis Antetokounmpo earning his fifth foul, they conjured up some tough buckets to lead by three at the 3:01 mark in the fourth.

But once Antetokounmpo re-entered the game at that point, the Bucks staged a back-breaking run, essentially capped off by a big pull-up three by Eric Bledsoe. Of course, the Bucks wound up adding a few buckets, both from Bledsoe and Antetokounmpo, to deliver home the final nail in the proverbial coffin and leave the nation’s capital with their first win there in over four years.
