According to reports, the Milwaukee Bucks will be signing big man Marshall Plumlee on a two-way contract before tonight’s deadline date.
The Milwaukee Bucks have made another addition to their revolving door of two-way contract players before Monday night’s guarantee deadline date.
According to Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports, the Bucks will be signing big man Marshall Plumlee to their remaining and available two-way contract slot.
Matt Velazquez of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel confirmed Charania’s report midway through the Bucks’ win over the Washington Wizards Monday afternoon.
Plumlee will mark as the seventh player the Bucks have signed to a two-way contract since the mechanism was implemented in the NBA’s new Collective Bargaining Agreement over the summer. The second-year pro comes to Milwaukee by way of the Agua Caliente Clippers of Ontario, the Los Angeles Clippers’ G League affiliate.

In 27 appearances with the team this season, Plumlee has posted 8.7 points on 58.3 percent shooting from the field, along with 7.8 rebounds and 0.9 blocks in 26.5 minutes.
Before getting picked up by the Clippers organization last summer, Plumlee stayed with the New York Knicks throughout his rookie season after going undrafted in the 2016 NBA Draft.
During his year-long stay with the Knicks for the 2016-17 NBA season, Plumlee logged 21 games on the NBA level and averaged 1.9 points and 2.4 rebounds in 8.1 minutes. Along with that, he put up 12.3 points, 9.1 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in 15 appearances when assigned to the Westchester Knicks last year.
Of course, Marshall is the second Plumlee to play under the Bucks organization, joining Miles, who spent close to two years with the Bucks from 2015-2017. On the Bucks’ end of the transaction, the pick up of Plumlee adds some security and depth to their thin frontcourt that’s currently comprised of John Henson and Thon Maker.
But since he’s being signed to his two-way deal with the Bucks midway through the year, Plumlee’s allotted time with the team will only run up to 22 total days, as ESPN’s Bobby Marks noted over the weekend before the two-way contract deadline Monday night.
With that in mind, Plumlee’s biggest impact on the organization will very likely come with the Wisconsin Herd as they look to build on what has been an exciting and successful expansion season so far.
How head coach Jordan Brady goes about adding Plumlee into the mix is a curious point to ponder, considering the Herd have a loaded frontcourt with Joel Bolomboy, Cliff Alexander, Cameron Oliver and the sidelined Michael Dunigan.
