Following a lengthy layoff, the Wisconsin Herd returned to action Wednesday night and were outclassed by the Greensboro Swarm.
In their first game since appearing at this year’s G League Showcase, the Wisconsin Herd looked all out of sorts as they were handily beaten by the Greensboro Swarm on Wednesday night, losing 122-109.
The Herd didn’t show any signs of rust in between games early on in the night as they and the Swarm both got off to solid starts in the opening several minutes. But in what would largely sum up the rest of the night, the Swarm started to separate themselves from the Herd midway through the period and led the Herd 37-25 at the end of one.
The second quarter didn’t prove to be any friendlier for the Herd as the Swarm continued to add to their substantial lead with the Herd unable to make any headway.

Trailing 72-53 coming out of halftime, it was all about doing damage control from the third quarter onward for the Herd.
It took a while to reach that point, however, as the Swarm continued to pile it on with ease, leading by as much as 27 at one point midway through the third quarter (which wouldn’t stand as their biggest lead of the night).
With the Swarm going into cruise control as we went further into the night’s final frame, the Herd were able to outscore the Charlotte Hornets’ affiliate 35-23 in the fourth quarter, with most of that production coming via the team’s reserves.
