Without one of their stars of the season, two-way player Xavier Munford, the Wisconsin Herd couldn’t keep up with the Windy City Bulls on Friday night.

Continuing what’s been a concerning trend as of late, the Wisconsin Herd were outlasted by the Windy City Bulls at the Sears Center on Friday night, losing 110-100.

With current two-way player Xavier Munford getting the call up to the Milwaukee Bucks, the Herd were going to have to hold the fort down without their leading offensive force for the night. But Munford’s absence was evident right away, even as the Herd got off to a fine start and hung with the Bulls throughout the first quarter.

Trailing 25-22 entering the second, the Bulls started to separate themselves from the Herd midway through the period as they built their first substantial double-digit lead of the game.

However, the Herd were able to answer back in the final few minutes of the second by stringing together a 12-5 run to close out the first half, bringing their deficit down to three.

It was at the beginning of the third quarter when the Herd were finally able to break through and grab on to their first, albeit slim lead, in large part due to Kyle Casey catching fire in the opening minutes of the second half.

However, the Bulls were never really deterred by what had been the Herd’s best push up until that point and broke up the tight game by going off on a 11-0 run midway through the frame. From that point on, any answer the Herd gave the Bulls was quickly negated and the Herd were left looking for answers trailing by nine entering the fourth.

After both teams started the quarter virtually deadlocked, the Bulls started to separate once again by building their biggest lead of the night (13). Not going down without a fight, the Herd almost pushed the Bulls to the brink with roughly a minute-and-a-half left to go, but ultimately came up short in trying to push them to the edge.
