The Milwaukee Bucks have a plan in place to see them through to the end of the season, but who could be under consideration when they expand their head coaching search in the offseason?

As the Milwaukee Bucks settle into life without Jason Kidd, uncertainty remains around what the team’s long term head coaching plan will look like.

Long-time assistant coach Joe Prunty will fulfil the role of interim head coach until the end of the season, but according to general manager Jon Horst, the plan is to initiate an expanded search process at that point.

"“We’ll go into the summer and have an extensive coaching search, and hopefully find a great coach for this organization.”"

Considering the considerable young and developing talent at Milwaukee’s disposal, not to mention a top-five player in the form of Giannis Antetokounmpo, the Bucks are a remarkably appealing prospect for any coaches on the look out for a high potential job, and for the franchise’s future it’s essential that the owners identify a suitable candidate.

Considering the Bucks’ state of the art practice facility and the chance for the next coach to guide the franchise into a new era with the opening of their new arena next season, the appeal spreads to off the court factors too.

With all of that in mind, I’ve compiled a list mixed with NBA assistants, former head coaches, a G League coach and a college coach who all intrigue me for a variety of different reasons.

You’ll notice a lack of the tried and tested NBA head coach archetype — with maybe one exception who has added new wrinkles to his repertoire of late — as the Bucks arguably need a coach who can not only motivate and bring structure and a coherent gameplan, but also one that can offer a new perspective if Milwaukee has real aspirations of mixing it with the league’s best teams.

So, without further ado, let’s take a look at some of the standout candidates who should at least find themselves under consideration for the job come summer time.
