Jameer Nelson

Having recently been traded to the Chicago Bulls as a part of the deal that sent Nikola Mirotic to the Chicago Bulls, Jameer Nelson’s short term future is very much uncertain.

The Bulls have young point guards Kris Dunn, Jerian Grant and Cameron Payne, and they may value what Nelson can offer as a veteran leader. On the other hand, Nelson has continued to show he can contribute over the past couple of years and may prefer a more active playing role than Chicago can offer.

With all of this considered, Nelson could ultimately be moved again in a trade or find himself as a buyout candidate. K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune recently noted Nelson has not been made available to the media, and the assumption is the Bulls aren’t done dealing.

"“The veteran guard wore Bulls practice gear and everything as Sunday’s workout at USC concluded. He joined in a shooting drill and engaged in some easygoing banter with his new teammates. Whether Nelson ever dons his No. 14 game uniform is another story. Despite passing his physical Saturday, Nelson was unavailable to reporters, doing nothing to slow leaguewide sentiment that the Bulls aren’t done dealing.”"

The 35-year-old is averaging 5.1 points, 3.6 assists and 2.2 rebounds in 20.9 minutes per game this season.
