The Wisconsin Herd have fallen under .500 for the first time this season after being defeated by the Lakeland Magic on Wednesday night.

Wednesday night marked another milestone in the Herd’s expansion season, although it was not one to be particularly proud of, as they were handled by the Lakeland Magic by 119-100.

The Magic came out firing away from deep to open up the night, leaving the Herd either having to meet their level or doing their best to slow them down in any way they could. The Herd went the former route as they curtailed the Magic’s hot start by going on a 22-12 run in the final six-and-a-half minutes in the quarter to trail 37-30 after one.

Having made up that considerable amount of ground, the Herd did their best to keep within striking distance of the Magic throughout the second, at least before Lakeland was able to pull away a bit to lead 66-55 heading into halftime.

The third quarter, and the second half for that matter, proved to be a different story for the Herd as the Magic reignited on the offensive end just as the Herd had become sloppy and careless with the ball, making their uphill battle that much more steeper.

Trailing by 17 at the start of the fourth quarter, the Magic poured it on the Herd and led by as much as 33 during the frame before both teams inserted their reserves to finish out the rest of the game from that point on.

When it was all said and done, the Herd finished the night one game below .500, the first time that has happened to them throughout the year and another reminder of how much their season has turned since the start of 2018.
