Despite an encouraging start, the Wisconsin Herd added to their losing ways as the Grand Rapids Drive steamrolled through them on Friday night in Menominee Nation Arena.
The Wisconsin Herd’s precipitous fall in 2018 continues as they were throttled by the surging Grand Rapids Drive on Friday night, losing 102-78.
Initially, there were no signs of what was to come in the Herd’s start as they gradually ran out ahead of the Drive in the night’s opening handful of minutes and led the Drive 23-11 after one.

Following their sluggish start, however, the Drive got an incredible boost from their bench and not only caught up with the Herd over time throughout the second, but took their first lead of the game at the 3:28 mark of the quarter.
Unfortunately for the Herd, it would remain in the Drive’s possession from that point on and the Drive held a 10-point lead going into halftime.
Wanting to get out of the hole they dug themselves in during the second half, the Herd were unable to make any considerable leeway throughout the third period, thanks to a relatively ineffective offensive performance in those 12 minutes.
Rather than go into cruise control, the Drive put their foot down on the proverbial gas pedal to break open the game in their favor, eliminating any potential run the Herd had in mind throughout the fourth quarter (though, executing it would have been a different question altogether, considering their overall performance on the night).
When it was all said and done, the Drive came out on top to earn their fifth straight win to go above the .500 mark at 19-18, improving their standing within the Eastern Conference playoff picture while sinking the Herd’s diminishing playoff hopes by handing them their third straight loss.
