Concerning takeaway

Entering the game without two-way player Xavier Munford as well as Joel Bolomboy and Cliff Alexander, who both continue to rehabilitate from the injuries they suffered last weekend, the Herd’s short-handedness was certainly going to rear its ugly head when going against a team as hot as the Drive are currently.

Where it ended up hurting them most was in the battle of the benches as the Drive outscored the Herd’s second unit 64-27.

The standout contributors for the Drive in that regard were Wisconsin product Bronson Koenig, who scored 17 points on 7-of-14 shooting from the field (3-for-7 from three) and former process truster K.J. McDaniels, who scored 23 points on 9-of-13 shooting from the field and brought the house down with a few explosive putback dunks at various points in the game.

While both JeQuan Lewis and Michael Dunigan did their best to hold down the fort on the Herd’s end, there was very little the Herd could do to get in the way of a complete performance from the Drive’s group of reserves.
