In their final game before this year’s All-Star break, the Wisconsin Herd weren’t able to pull off a miraculous comeback over the Long Island Nets on Saturday night, earning their fourth straight loss.

Before getting a much needed respite for this year’s extended All-Star break, the Wisconsin Herd couldn’t go out on a high note as they fell to the Long Island Nets by 120-111 on Saturday night.

Decked out in their honorary black and green uniforms a la the Milwaukee Bucks’ “Fear the Deer” alternates, the Herd were outpaced by the Nets for the bulk of the night’s opening quarter. Thanks to a 16-7 run from the 4:55 mark of the period onwards, though, the Herd were able to keep within range of the Nets at the end of the first.

As much as the Herd were able to carry over that type of charge at the beginning of the second, the Nets were able to sprint out ahead of Wisconsin once again to lead 56-45 going into halftime.

Facing that type of deficit, the Herd couldn’t make any significant headway on the Nets throughout the third quarter and still trailed by double digits heading into the night’s final frame.

The start of the fourth quarter proved to be rock bottom for the Herd as the Nets had built up their lead up to 23 midway through the period and were seemingly preparing to smoothly sail to the final buzzer.

However, the Herd stormed back in the waning minutes of the game, rattling off score after score to get back within range and give the Nets some kind of fight as we ventured into the final minute. In the end, it was all for naught as the Nets handed the Herd their fourth straight loss going into the All-Star break.
