In their first game back following their lengthy All-Star break, the Wisconsin Herd couldn’t overcome the Fort Wayne Mad Ants on Wednesday night.
After a one-and-a-half week break in play, the Wisconsin Herd returned back to action Wednesday night falling to the Fort Wayne Mad Ants 128-110 in their home Menominee Nation Arena.
Sporting a full squad, which was headlined by the debut of veteran point guard Brandon Jennings, the Herd got a big boost from the 28-year-old and one-time Milwaukee Buck throughout the first quarter as they battled with Fort Wayne but trailed 29-27 at the end of one.

It was in the second quarter when the Herd gradually started to showcase a kind of firepower we haven’t seen from them in some time, thanks to their starting five fueling the team’s offense throughout the frame. That helped give the Herd a 59-53 lead over the Mad Ants going into halftime.
However, the game flipped on its head in the third period as the Mad Ants displayed some scorching shooting from all levels of the floor.
Combine that with the Herd’s penchant for coughing up the ball and tallying turnovers, it led to them digging themselves a big hole and with only 12 minutes, being left with a 13-point deficit at the end of the third.
Despite threatening to make things interesting for moments in the fourth, it all proved to be fleeting for the Herd as the Mad Ants dug in defensively and couldn’t be cooled down from the field to boot.
For a night that certainly was electric on the floor and throughout the crowd for a variety of reasons, it ended in what’s become an all too familiar result for the Herd in 2018 with the Mad Ants handing them their fifth straight defeat.
