Despite their best efforts, the Wisconsin Herd couldn’t outduel the Raptors 905 in an offensive shootout Sunday evening at the Air Canada Centre.

Coming off of a much needed win last time out, the Wisconsin Herd couldn’t play spoiler Sunday evening as they were dispatched late by the Raptors 905 in a high scoring affair, losing 129-119.

Despite a solid start from the Herd in the opening few minutes, the 905 quickly leapt out in front to take control of the game, building a double-digit lead in the manner of snapping your thumb. From there on out, the Herd were looking to do damage control to no avail after one as they trailed the 905 37-21.

The second period eventually proved to be a different story, though it would take a bit of time before the Herd could make it a game once again.

Once the 905 led by as much as 24 midway through the frame, the Herd strung together an 18-0 run, thanks to the likes of Ricky Ledo, James Blackmon Jr. and Brandon Jennings, which brought their deficit down to single digits.

Unfortunately, the 905 cooled off the Herd near the end of the second and built their lead up to 13 heading into halftime.

The 905 carried over their firm grasp of the game out of the break and the Herd didn’t come all that close to challenging the reigning G League champions all throughout the third quarter.

Trailing 105-88 with 12 minutes to go, the Herd once again ramped up their comeback attempt during the fourth, eventually chipping away at the 905’s stranglehold of the game. It eventually came to a head in the latter minutes of the period with the Herd drawing their deficit down to as little as five, thanks to a three-point heat check from Jennings as well as Blackmon.

But that’s as far as the Herd could take it as the 905 finally put the clamp down in the final minute of the game, officially handing the Herd a loss in their trip up north of the border.
