According to reports, the Milwaukee Bucks are signing Wisconsin Herd guard Brandon Jennings to a 10-day contract, although details of a move to open a corresponding roster spot have yet to emerge.
Just when you thought everything was settled regarding the roster for the Milwaukee Bucks, on a rare weekend free from games no less, news strikes that they have made a further addition and will also therefore be making a subtraction.
First reported by Marc Spears of ESPN’s The Undefeated, the Bucks are signing NBA veteran and current Wisconsin Herd guard Brandon Jennings to a 10-day contract.
Some time after Spears’ report, Matt Velazquez of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel was able to confirm the news.
Of course, the move further establishes the 28-year-old’s reunion with the team that selected him with the 10th overall pick back in the 2009 NBA Draft after Jennings came back to the organization by signing with the Wisconsin Herd back on February 13 of this year.
Since making his return to the Dairy State nearly a month ago, Jennings is averaging 21.4 points on 34.6 percent shooting from the field and 33.9 percent shooting from three in 37 minutes per game across seven appearances.
Jennings has paired his scoring with 7.6 assists while also averaging 3.9 turnovers on a 28.9 percent usage percentage through that time frame as well.
While Jennings hasn’t lit it up from an efficiency standpoint or hasn’t reined in his turnover issues that have featured throughout his eight-year NBA career during his stint with the Herd, it’s not hard to deduce the basis behind the move on the Bucks’ part.
The addition of Jennings comes on the heels of an update by Velazquez on Bucks guard Matthew Dellavedova, who’s been sidelined with an ankle injury since the beginning of February.
With Dellavedova reportedly suffering a setback and Malcolm Brogdon still far from returning back to action after suffering a partially torn left quad injury just days before Delly’s injury, the Bucks obviously felt operating with just one healthy point guard in Eric Bledsoe wasn’t a safe proposition to run with as they hit the final stretch run in their season.

That obviously leads us to the other part in Saturday afternoon’s transaction for the Bucks.
By bringing in Jennings, the Bucks will have to waive a player to open a spot on their roster. At the time of writing, no further reports or official confirmation has come from the Bucks to suggest who that will be.
From a salary perspective, only a limited number of Bucks would seem like candidates for that unfortunate fate, with the most likely victim of the move appearing to be the very recently signed Shabazz Muhammad.
Outside of Muhammad, the likes of Jason Terry and Tyler Zeller have much more obvious and well-defined roles on the roster, making it seem unlikely that they would be waived to make way for Jennings.
