Milwaukee Bucks: Recent history with Boston Celtics

As the Milwaukee Bucks prepare for a first round playoff series with the Boston Celtics, how have they fared against them in recent years?
After an eventful final night of the season on Wednesday, the Milwaukee Bucks were locked into a first round series with the second placed Boston Celtics.
The Celtics finished the regular season with 55 wins and the NBA’s best defense, yet for many there’s cause for doubt about how they’ll perform in the playoffs.
The primary reason for that is the absences of Kyrie Irving, Marcus Smart, Daniel Theis and, of course, Gordon Hayward through injury.

Although that will certainly act as cause for encouragement for the Bucks, the Celtics’ season was very much built on being solid collectively as a team, and even without Irving, they’ve managed to hold up surprisingly well.
To zoom out and get a sense of how the series may ultimately play out, beyond the most immediate details in regard to injuries, I took a look back at how the two teams have matched up over the last five years.
That timeframe has seen significant change for both franchises, but conveniently acts as the entirety of Coach of the Year contender Brad Stevens’ tenure as head coach with the Celtics.
So without further ado, let’s start with the recently completed regular season and work our way backwards.
