With the series finely poised at 2-2, the Milwaukee Bucks will be hoping to steal a crucial win on the road against the Boston Celtics on Tuesday.

Following the completion of Game 4 between the Milwaukee Bucks and Boston Celtics, ESPN stats guru Kevin Pelton was asked on Twitter about the historic precedent for how important Game 5 tends to be in a series that’s tied at 2-2.

Pelton explained that the home team goes on to win after a Game 5 victory 93 percent of the time, while a road team goes on to advance after a Game 5 win 63 percent of the time.

In other words, how important is Game 5 in a series tied at 2-2? So important that the winner of Game 5 in that scenario goes on to win the series 86 percent of the time.

The stakes couldn’t be much clearer or more well-defined for the Celtics and Bucks heading into Tuesday’s game at TD Garden.

On the Bucks’ side of things, Milwaukee has all the momentum following consecutive wins heading into this one, and the intricacies of NBA playoff scheduling have their fans dreaming of running the table from here on in and winning in six games.

From a Celtics’ perspective, they’ve held serve in spite of their injuries up until this point, they still have home court advantage, and over the next two games they may even be bolstered by the return of Marcus Smart.

It’s all set up for a fascinating finale to this series.

With that in mind, let’s take a closer look at the action ahead, and see which team can prevail in Game 5.
