Following up on his Rookie of the Year winning campaign, Malcolm Brogdon reinforced why he’s a key piece for the Milwaukee Bucks moving forward in his sophomore season.
It’s not as if he had a tough act to follow, but coming off of a rookie season that was capped off with earning Rookie of the Year honors, Milwaukee Bucks guard Malcolm Brogdon had to prove that his introduction to the NBA was no fluke this year.
Going from the 36th overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft to a key starter for a playoff team in the span of 10 months, Brogdon’s breakout campaign in the 2016-17 season added him to the long line of second round success stories in recent years.
As it turned out, Brogdon kept on writing chapters to that story with his reliable, rock solid play as he shined throughout this year.

While there was a period of adjustment for Brogdon upon Eric Bledsoe‘s arrival from the Phoenix Suns a few weeks into the season, a move that forced the second-year guard out of the starting lineup, Brogdon recalibrated to his new role acting as the Sixth Man from that point on.
As much as he propped up the team’s thin bench unit, Brogdon was reinserted back in the starting lineup in the first week of January as a result of Tony Snell falling out of favor with then-head coach Jason Kidd.
Unfortunately, injury derailed the 25-year-old’s season at the beginning of February during a tilt with the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The injury, a partially torn quadriceps tendon, forced the former Virginia Cavalier to miss the next two months of the season. Returning in time for the end of the regular season, Brogdon was leaned on throughout the team’s first round series with the Boston Celtics that went the full seven games before the Bucks fell 112-96 in Game 7 back on April 28.
So without further ado, let’s go over the highs and lows of Malcolm Brogdon’s abbreviated sophomore season, look back on his career-high performance to date and where he can go from here.
