Milwaukee Bucks 2017-18 Season Review: John Henson
Game of the season
In what arguably stood as the best stretch of their rollercoaster season, albeit primarily coming against teams that were bound for the draft lottery, the Bucks were buzzing in late January and early February.
They entered their February 4 duel with the Brooklyn Nets as winners of five of their last six following the midseason dismissal of former head coach Jason Kidd, who was fired on January 22. They added to their post-Kidd firing bump by taking care of business against the lowly Nets and dispatching them on Super Bowl Sunday by winning 109-94.
All throughout the game, Henson cleaned up on misses as he hauled down seven offensive rebounds for the contest and subsequently capitalized on second chance scores.
When he wasn’t doing that, he provided excellent rolls to the rim, freeing him up to become a lob target for the likes of Khris Middleton and Eric Bledsoe and even managed to knock down a pair of mid-range jumpers late in the second half.
Henson backed up his offensive play on the other end of the floor by manning the paint and stuffing attempts at the rim by penetrating Nets big men and ball handlers.
Playing nearly 30-and-a-half minutes on the day, Henson tallied 19 points on 8-of-14 shooting from the field (3-of-5 from the free throw line), 18 rebounds, three assists, two blocks and was a team-high +22.
Doing all of that while fighting through noticeable hamstring tightness down the stretch in the second half, it’s safe to say that it was one of the more complete performances the 27-year-old has put together throughout his six seasons wearing a Bucks uniform.
