While he was brought on as a two-way player by the Milwaukee Bucks midway through the year, Xavier Munford showed out by putting together a career year with the Wisconsin Herd throughout the entire 2017-18 season.

As we have covered all throughout the year, the 2017-18 Milwaukee Bucks season brought an added wrinkle regarding the introduction of their G League affiliate, the Wisconsin Herd.

In the lead up to the Herd’s inaugural season, there was plenty of intrigue over how they would fill out all aspects of their organization, the biggest being the team’s expansion roster. The first milestone in giving us a sense of who would be brought on board was the Herd taking part in the G League expansion draft last August.

But even then, considering the nature of the G League and the high level of roster turnover, the results of the expansion draft came with the caveat of knowing that most players selected likely wouldn’t come up to Oshkosh (four of the 11 picks the Herd made wound up playing this year).

It wasn’t until the big acquisition in mid-October of four-year pro Xavier Munford when the ambition the Herd held for their expansion season became clear.

Munford, who was brought in midway through training camp, had his rights acquired by the Herd via the Greensboro Swarm in exchange for their first round selections in the G League Draft last year and next.

As it turns out, adding Munford arguably stands as the season-defining piece the Herd added in constructing their roster, considering the stellar season he weaved in his 34 appearances with the affiliate this year.

So without further ado, let’s reflect on Xavier Munford’s transcendent season with the Wisconsin Herd, his brief cameos with the Bucks, highlight his best performance of the season and see where he goes from here.
