At long last, the Milwaukee Bucks’ new arena will officially be known as Fiserv Forum. We dig into the details and statements released by the Bucks as well as the Brookfield-based company.

After months of speculation and a few denials from both parties, the Milwaukee Bucks’ new arena officially has a name.

It was announced Thursday afternoon that the building will be known as Fiserv Forum after the Bucks and the Brookfield-based company struck a naming rights deal that will last for 25 years. As of this writing, the financial terms of the agreement have not yet been disclosed.

The announcement comes exactly a month before the arena holds its official grand opening as part of the fourth annual block party, which the Bucks will hold at the building and the surrounding area in downtown Milwaukee on August 26.

As part of the Bucks’ press release, Jeff Yabuki, the president of Fiserv, released a statement regarding what it means for the company individually and building a relationship with the Bucks for this deal:

"“We are excited to partner with the Milwaukee Bucks to create an unprecedented opportunity to elevate our brand as one of the world’s leading providers of financial technology and payment services,” said Jeff Yabuki, President and Chief Executive Officer of Fiserv. “We also expect this arrangement to further differentiate our brand in support of our purpose of delivering value and excellence to our clients every day.”"

Yabuki expounded on the opportunity to partner with the organization and how local ties played a significant part in their decision-making in an interview with Paul Gores of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, considering they’ve been based in the state since its founding back in 1984:

"“We wouldn’t have done it in another market,” Yabuki said. “This is our home market.”“It’s an honor and privilege to continue to the tradition established by Jane Bradley Pettit, whose generosity and love for the Milwaukee community funded the city’s prior arena for more than 30 years,” Yabuki said. “We are proud to be a part of the transformation and revitalization of our home community that continues to evolve for the better.”"

In addition to Yabuki, the Bucks’ ownership trio of Wes Edens, Jamie Dinan and Marc Lasry crafted a statement for this momentous occasion:

"“We are proud to become a long-term partner with Fiserv, a dynamic international company with a prominent Wisconsin presence, which deeply shares our commitment to bettering and growing Milwaukee,” said Bucks owners Wes Edens, Marc Lasry and Jamie Dinan. “It was clear from the start of our conversations that the Bucks and Fiserv align perfectly in our goals for innovation and leadership, and carry the same passion for excellence. As Fiserv Forum becomes an internationally recognized venue, we are excited to be an instrumental part of furthering Fiserv’s brand as a leader in its industry. Fiserv Forum will be the entertainment and sporting heart of our city and will deliver memorable experiences for fans and families in Wisconsin for generations to come.”"

As some of you remember, reports surfaced in late May that a deal was nearing between the two parties, something that both Fiserv and the Bucks organization quickly squashed subsequently.

Now that it’s been made official, this closes the long, winding saga the organization, namely Bucks president Peter Feigin, have been on to lock down naming rights for the state of the art arena.
