Bucks Gaming secure win over Warriors Gaming Squad in penultimate game of the season
By Adam McGee
As the NBA 2K League regular season begins to wind down, the Milwaukee Bucks Gaming team came up with a win over Warriors Gaming Squad on Saturday.
With the playoffs officially out of reach for the Milwaukee Bucks Gaming team as the inaugural regular season begins to draw to a close in the NBA 2K League, the final weeks of the season are undoubtedly something of an anti-climax for Milwaukee’s six-man squad.
Still, as they played their penultimate game of the year on Saturday in New York, there was at least some good news for Bucks Gaming as they came up with a win over the lowly Warriors Gaming Squad.
That victory made it 5 Ws on the season for Bucks Gaming, meaning they could still finish the season anywhere across positions 10 to 15.

Even with the season nearing an end, the overarching theme of Bucks Gaming’s season held up through Saturday, though, as the lineup continued to change in terms of personnel, positions and archetypes.
In hindsight, it seems fair to say the Bucks may have benefited from sticking to some combination more rigidly and allowing players to find a rhythm and grow in confidence and comfort, yet in reality, the changes continued to roll in as Milwaukee searched for a spark or a magic formula of some kind.
On this occasion, while the same five players remained in the starting lineup from last week’s loss to the Knicks, all five guys found themselves playing in a different position and role.
Game6Drake shifted from a Sharpshooting Playmaker at point guard to a Sharpshooting Shot Creator at shooting guard, KingPeroxide transitioned from Pure Sharpshooter at shooting guard to a Sharpshooting Shot Creator at small forward, OLarry returned to a Slashing Rebounder role at center as opposed to a Pure Sharpshooter small forward, STL2LA moved from a Rebounding Athletic Finisher at Power Forward to a Shot Creating Sharpshooter at point guard, while BigMeek returned to his comfort zone as a Sharpshooting Rim Protector at power forward having played as a Slashing Rebounder at center last week.
Moving Drake away from point guard following a 23 points, 20 assists game was certainly a bold move, but returning BigMeek to his more natural position certainly paid dividends for the Bucks.
Meek led the Bucks in scoring with 21 points, mostly a result of his reliable three-point shooting. Along with his 5-of-8 success from deep, the power forward also held his own inside with nine rebounds and three blocks.
With the score particularly close throughout the first half — Warriors Gaming Squad led 39-37 at half time — it was really the second half when Meek and the Bucks started to pile the pressure on their opponents from the Bay Area.
Milwaukee opened up the third quarter with an 8-0 run, held Warriors Gaming Squad to just eight points overall in that period, and effectively never looked back.
A balanced scoring effort saw all five Bucks score in double-digits, with Drake on the high end of that scale with 17 points of his own on 8-of-17 from the field.
In the end, Bucks Gaming were able to cruise to victory in the fourth quarter, wrapping up a comfortable 72-63 win.
Bucks Gaming will next be in action on Friday, August 10, when they’ll face Mavs Gaming at 8pm CT in their final game of the season.
