Milwaukee Bucks reportedly agree to training camp deal with Shabazz Muhammad
According to numerous reports, the Milwaukee Bucks have agreed to a training camp deal to bring back fifth-year forward Shabazz Muhammad.
Just when you may have thought their offseason had come to a standstill, the Milwaukee Bucks have arranged yet another roster move just over a month ahead of the start of this year’s training camp.
First reported by Shams Charania of Yahoo! Sports, the Bucks have agreed to a deal to bring back forward Shabazz Muhammad.
Considering where their roster has stood for the last couple of weeks, Bucks fans may have initially felt confused by the addition of Muhammad.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel’s Matt Velazquez helped clarify things by relaying that while the deal is not yet done as of this writing, it’s under the basis that the 25-year-old will be competing for a roster spot in camp and therefore, non-guaranteed.
Of course, this continues Muhammad’s stint in Milwaukee, which started at the beginning of March last season after getting bought out by the Minnesota Timberwolves, his first home since coming into the league.

In his 11 appearances with the Bucks, Muhammad packed a scoring punch primarily off the bench by putting up a 8.5 points on shooting splits of .552/.375/.895 and 2.8 rebounds.
That carried over into the Bucks’ playoff series against the Boston Celtics as he posted 6.3 points on 9-of-20 shooting from the field (4-for-5 from three) and 1 rebounds across 7.3 minutes in his four appearances.
The day after the end of the Bucks’ season, Muhammad expressed an interest in continuing his stay in the Cream City during his exit interview:
"“I mean, you know, I’m a free agent. And I like Milwaukee a lot, and like how the program’s ran, and everybody here. So we’ll see what happens and go from there.”"
Up until this point, all things had been quiet on the Muhammad front throughout this year’s free agency period.
While he was waiting to sort out the next stop in his professional future, Muhammad stayed diligent in working on his craft as he told Bryan Kalbrosky of Hoops Hype last month:
"“We’ve done a lot of really helpful work on my ballhandling ability. I think if I can get the fade at two, start with the rebound and push the ball then that can help me create space. I’m trying to knock down three-pointers, the biggest thing for me is the corner three-pointer. I’m shooting about 200 from each side a day. I definitely think it’ll show the most on the defensive end of the court, though. I’m in the best shape of my life. And on offense, I can still score in a bunch of different ways and that will be great now that I’ve been working on my conditioning because I can play more minutes and be more effective. That’s a big part of my development.”"
With the addition of Muhammad, the Bucks’ roster is set to stand at 19 players with the number of training camp deals they have inked and if you exclude two-way players Trevon Duval and Jaylen Morris.
With that, we shall see what comes of the training camp competition that is sure to come with Muhammad back in the fold for the time being.
